Welcome to Discontent Dispatch, my online writing home. Here, you’ll find criticism, complaints, broadsides, and objections, delivered with umbrage, righteous indignation, irreverence, wry wit, and, of course, heaps of discontent.

My name is Ben, and I am a writer. The ultimate goal of this Substack is to keep me from going insane. Think Kafka: “A nonwriting writer is a monster courting insanity.”
My background is in literary studies, but I want to avoid confining myself (and this space) to any one subject or narrow set of subjects. Moving forward, expect to find pieces on:
Current events and other irritants
